About this Site.

I have updated the site based on Cascading Style Sheets since the frames version which I had before is no longer state of the art and most standard open source tools don't support frames natively so maintaining it would be a pain. I oringinally used Front Page but that costs money and I didn't feel like paying for it.

Most of what I know about CSS I learned in the book CSS: The Unwritten Guide. The book is a general description of CSS and how it works. It includes a ton of examples and exercises which you can work through by downloading the files from the associated web site. Some of the things on the site are directly out of the exercises, some I downloaded from sites which are mentioned in the book.

The primary tool I used is called HTML Kit, which provides a html editing environment including support for CSS and a preview capability of the pages you create. All image editing was done using GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) version 2.6.7. To rename all of the image files, I used a tool called PFrank (Peter's Flexible RenAmiNg Kit). Of course, the videos which you can see are from YouTube. I experimented with tools to create streaming video myself but it took too much effort. Maybe another time.

For the slide show I kept a java script I downloaded a long time ago from java-scrips.net. I customized the buttons to match the navigaion bar with standard CSS formatting. The navigation bar was created using a free menu creator called "Free CSS Drop Down Menu" (go figure). I customized it a bit to get the look and feel I wanted.

I have since added a blog page to the site for some personal notes on technical things I am working on either in relation to this site or just playing with different ideas. If you are interested, take a look here http://www.broccolifamily.net/blogs/blog5.php E-Mail

All information on this site was created by me except for the pieces mentioned above. All picutres were taken by either Sam, Lisa or me. Don't use them to make money unless you want to give all of the money to us.

I would appreciate it if anyone viewing this page would let me know if anything is wrong or if you find errors. An Email E-Mail would be fine.
