Dubrovnik, Croatia

June, 2006

Dubrovnik is a very cool town. On our first day, we just wandered the old town. Luckily we wore our bathing suits everywhere we went under our cloths since there were several places where we could go outside the city walls and just swim off of the rocks. Since it was around 95° every day, it was a nice break from the heat.

On our second day we took a guided kayak trip out to Lokrum Island just off the shore from Dubrovnik. We got to paddle into a cave and spent an hour and a half just hanging out on the island, snorkeling, watching the peacocks, and eating lunch.

Our third day was sort of lost trying to get out to Lopud island. We eventually managed to get there and spent a couple of hours on the beach but not much else.

On our final day, we rented kayaks and went out on our own along the shore and around the old town walls. We found our own cave with a sandy beach and went for a swim (one of us with less than a complete bathing suit!).

Every evening we went into town after dinner to get an ice cream.

We stayed in an apartment which was in a residential district overlooking the harbor. The bus into the old town came every 10 minutes and it took about 5 minutes to get there.
