Florence, Italy

April, 2005

Our trip to Italy started in Florence.  We spent two days there and then moved on to the Cinque Terre for another two days.  Between Florence and the Cinque Terre, we drove the back roads across Tuscany.  I divided the pictures into three parts this time, Florence, the Tuscan Coutryside and the Cinque Terre.

The day we arrived in Florence it was pouring down rain.  Luckily that was the end of the bad weather and we got partly cloudy weather the rest of our vacation.   We really had no plans for what to do, so we just wandered the streets the whole time checking out the sites.  We did go into the Academy Museum and saw the original David, but the main museum, the Uffizi, had a 4 hour line so we skipped it.

Our hotel, the Strozzi Palace, was just around the corner from Piazza Republica (the picture of the arch) and two blocks from the Cathedral.   The last two pictures show views out of the window of the roof tops and the motorcycle parking in the street below.
