Athens, Greece

June, 2005

Athens was a great city.  Our hotel was about 100 yards from where we took the first picture.  The Plaka (the main shopping district) was the same.  We spent the morning wandering through the Acropolis and then after a giant Greek Salad for lunch wandered the shops of the Plaka.  In the evening we ventured out again to get some night shots of the ruins.

The next morning we got up early and headed for the airport and our flight out to the islands of Santorini (or so we thought...).

When we got to the airport, the lady at the counter told us very nicely that our flight had been cancelled "due to the strike."   After the shock wore off, we did manage to find alternative transportation on an overnight ferry, but not after spending another day in Athens, since the boat left at at 10pm.   We spent this day in our favorite cafe and in the park in front of the Greek Parliament building with the stray dogs.
