Tuscany, Italy

April, 2005

We left Florence in the morning and drove down towards San Gimignano (aka.  Sam gimme Nonno).  The drive took about 2 hours.   We picked up some olives, salami, peccorino cheese and foccacia  (this became the standard lunch throughout the rest of our trip) for lunch and ate sitting on a wall overlooking the countryside below.  The town itself is very cool with lots of small shops and, of course, a gelaterria or two.

After lunch we made our way via Volterra (the last picture) and Pisa (we only saw the tower from the freeway) to Lerici, a town about 30 km from the Cinque Terre where our hotel was.
